1. A system for providing power to a welding application, comprising:
an internal combustion engine coupled to a generator for producing electrical power; an energy storage device coupled to the generator for receiving power from the generator for charging the energy storage device; power conditioning and charging circuitry continuously coupled to the generator and to the energy storage device and configured to control charging of the energy storage device; and power conversion circuitry configured to convert output power from the energy storage device to power appropriate for a welding operation; wherein the power conditioning and charging circuitry is coupled to a welding power output in parallel with the energy storage device and the power conversion circuitry, and both the power conditioning and charging circuitry and the power conversion circuitry can provide the power appropriate for the welding operation. |
