A bearing device for a wheel is provided with a bearing (6) for the wheel, the bearing (6) comprising: an outer ring (5) which has outer raceway surfaces (14, 15) formed on the inner periphery thereof; a hub ring (1) and an inner ring (2), which have inner raceway surfaces (8, 12) formed on the outer peripheries thereof; and balls (3, 4) which are arranged between the outer raceway surfaces (14, 15) of the outer ring (5) and the inner raceway surfaces (8, 12) of both the hub ring (1) and the inner ring (2). A stem section (30) is fitted to the inner diameter of the hub ring (1), a constant velocity universal joint (7) is joined to the bearing (6) for the wheel by a thread fastening structure (N), and the shoulder section (45) of an outer joint member (20) is brought into contact with the staked section (13) of the hub ring (1). Protrusions (33) formed on the stem section (30) are press fitted into the hub ring (1) in which recesses having interference with the protrusions (33) are formed, and the shape of the protrusions (33) is transferred to the hub ring (1), forming a recess-protrusion fitting structure (M) in which the entire portions (X) where the protrusions (33) and the recesses (37) are fitted to and in contact with each other are in close contact with each other. The difference between axial force generated by the tightening of a bolt (42) and axial force generated by the force of press fitting the stem section (30) into the hub ring (1) is set to be 32 kN or less. |
