The present invention has a purpose of providing a protection circuit and time reduction control method which is capable of restraining terminals from increasing to set a time reduction mode and testing each detection function in a case of setting the time reduction mode. A mode controller (27) manages a conventional mode (MD1) for monitoring voltage of a VDD terminal and an excess current detection terminal, time reduction modes (MD1, MD2) for reducing set delay time to detect over-charge, over-discharge and excess current and protection modes (MD3, MD5, MD6, MD7, MD8) for outputting a signal to stop charge current or discharge current when an abnormal state is detected in the conventional mode, and transfers the convention mode to the time reduction mode when voltage of the VDD terminal exceeds a first set value and transfers the time reduction mode to the protection mode even though anything among the over-charge, the over-discharge and the excess current is detected. |
