<p>Provided is an engine starting device equipped with a simple, easily assembled mag switch, which does not require the provision of a solenoid coil protective member. This engine starting device is configured so as to be equipped with: an electric motor; an output shaft rotated by the rotation of the electric motor; a pinion movable body, which fits onto a helical spline formed on the output shaft and is capable of moving in the axial direction; a solenoid coil that generates magnetic force when energized; an electromagnetic solenoid that moves the pinion moving body toward a ring gear by means of the attractive force of the solenoid coil; a contact switch coil that generates magnetic force when energized; and a contact switch that opens/closes the energization contacts of the electric motor by means of the attractive force of the contact switch coil. The electromagnetic solenoid and the contact switch are formed integrally in series in the axial direction, and the inner diameter of the contact switch coil is larger than the inner diameter of the solenoid coil.</p> |
