PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve quality of ingot which has been subjected to casting in top casting ingot making.SOLUTION: The ingot making method for making ingot by pouring a molten steel 1 into a cast 2 is provided. On an inside of a feeder part 5 of the cast 2, a fire brick 7 is formed. On an outside of the fire brick 7, an insulation brick 6 is formed for making the feeder part 5 into a multilayer structure. In addition when the molten steel 1 is poured into the cast 2, cast temperature difference is &Dgr;T, cast height is H, cast average width is D, ingot weight is W, and heat insulation index is y, they satisfy the formula: [r≥34.3-0.025×&Dgr;T-8.5×(H/D)+0.00143×W-0.098×y], and feeder ratio r is set so as to satisfy the formula. Based on the set feeder ratio r, ingot is made. |
