An apparatus for manufacturing screw blanks comprises a mandrel with an annular projection and a clamping mechanism of the front end of tape on the mandrel, a guide roller for the tape, and a forming roller, whose axis is arranged perpendicular to the axis of mandrel and whose working surface is stepped with a major step with a working end surface and a minor step with a cylindrical working surface.
