发明名称 Improvements relating to blocks for road surface marking for guiding vehicular traffic
摘要
666,859. Road-traffic signs. SHAW, P. June 2, 1949 [June 2, 1948], No. 14849/48. Class 3 (ii). A road marking stud comprises an opentopped box A and a resilient filling B which is inserted in the box from the top and in which reflectors E are fixed and subjected to a wiping action, the box top coming approximately flush with the highest part of the filling and the front and rear portions inclining with a gentle slope from the level of the road surface or thereabouts to the box top when the box is embedded therein, each front and rear portion having a gap D through which the reflector or reflectors can be seen. Articles of rigid nature may ride up the inclined portions and travel across the top without exerting any detrimental stress in the filling in any direction. The reflectors E are mounted on opposite sides of the rubber block, which is hollow and is made with slits B3 under the reflectors so that when the top is depressed by passing vehicles the reflectors are cleaned by integral tongues B6, B7. The block is held in position by lugs P on the box which project into slots B2. The top of the rubber-block is of reduced area to reduce the area of contact with vehicle-tyres and the inner surfaces J of the box sides may be tapered to control the extent of depression of the block. The box may have keying grooves and projections S, R, to fix it to the road. The provisional specification states that a metal stud may project from the bottom of the box through the rubber block or a metal guard may be provided across the top of the rubber to reduce its contact area. Specifications 504,817 and 615,088 are referred to.
