PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for an inner liner, which can achieve both excellent low heat build-up property and high flex crack growth resistance while having processability excellent enough to eliminate the need for a mastication process, and further has good air impermeability, and to provide a pneumatic tire produced using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: The rubber composition for an inner liner includes: modified natural rubber which is obtained by performing a step (A) of preparing a saponified natural rubber latex by subjecting a natural rubber latex to a saponification treatment, a step (B) of alkali-treating coagulated rubber obtained by coagulating the saponified natural rubber latex, and a step (C) of washing the alkali-treated coagulated rubber until the phosphorus content in the rubber becomes 200 ppm or less; and carbon black and/or a white filler. |
