PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make an improvement and a further development for significantly reducing power consumption and interferences with neighboring femtocells and macro cells by employing mechanisms that are readily to implement.SOLUTION: A femtocell base station is enabled to transit between a normal operation mode and a low-load operation mode that has reduced radio interface activity. The femtocell base station enters the low-load operation mode if no mobile station is connected to the femtocell base station. The low-load operation mode has available intervals and unavailable intervals.
