PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoacoustic device and a stack of the thermoacoustic device that can convert thermal energy into acoustic energy with higher efficiency. ! SOLUTION: A thermoacoustic device 10 includes: a heat absorber 22 which is supplied with heat; a heat radiator 24 which radiates heat; and a stack 30 which has a plurality of passages, through which a working fluid can flow, formed between the heat absorber 22 and heat radiator 24, and makes the working fluid in the passages generate sound pressure as a temperature gradient of a rise in temperature from heat radiator-side openings to heat absorber-side openings of the passages is generated. The stack 30 is so constituted that total opening area on the heat absorber side which is total sectional area of openings on the side of the heat absorber 22 is smaller than total opening area on the heat radiator side which is total sectional area of openings on the side of the heat radiator 24. !
