PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus capable of suppressing the inclination of a cover or an automatic document feed unit relative to an axial direction, when the cover or the automatic document feed unit is moved from a cover position to an exposure position around an axis line.SOLUTION: An ADF unit 6 is provided vertically movably to a cabinet 5. A weight distribution is set in such a manner that the right side of the ADF unit 6 is easily moved earlier than the left side, when the ADF unit 6 is rotated to the upper side and expanded. At this time, when the ADF unit 6 is rotated to the upper side and expanded, if force to rotate the ADF unit 6 is applied at a part deviating to the left side of the ADF unit 6, the contact face of a contact member 111 contacts to a hinge 81A, enabling suppressing the inclination of the hinge 81A to the vertical direction. Thus, the inclination of the ADF unit 6 to the left and right directions can be suppressed. |
