PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating film which is made of an organic/inorganic hybrid using a PVA resin and a metal alkoxide and is excellent in gas barrier properties, and to provide a coating film forming agent for obtaining the coating film.SOLUTION: The coating film is obtained from the coating film forming agent containing a hydrolysis product (A) of a metal alkoxide and a polyvinyl alcohol resin (B) and has an oxygen permeability of 0.1-10 cc/mday atm in a film thickness of 2-9 μm. The hydrolysis product (A) of the metal alkoxide is obtained by hydrolyzing the metal alkoxide at 10-40°C.
