PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulation material that improves heat-resisting properties at a high temperature, and a method of manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: A heat insulation material is predominantly made of alumina particles with an average grain diameter of 100 nm or less. The heat insulation material includes a compound selected from among a group 2 element compound, a lanthanum compound and an yttrium compound, and does not include an organic fiber. The heat insulation material of the present invention can be used as a heat insulation material for being used in an environment in which heat-resisting properties at a maximum working temperature of more than 1,100°C (e.g. 1,200°C or more) are required. |
