A hydrogen generation device (100) is equipped with: a reformer (1) for generating a hydrogen-containing gas by using a starting material gas; a hydro-desulfurizer (2) for removing a sulfur compound in the starting material gas; a recycling channel (3) for supplying the hydrogen-containing gas to the starting material gas before introducing the starting material gas to the hydro-desulfurizer (2); an ejector (5) into which the hydrogen-containing gas from the recycling channel (3) flows, and positioned in a starting-material-gas channel at a location upstream from the hydro-desulfurizer (2); and a heater (6) for heating the ejector (5).
