The present invention provides a method and user equipment for expansion of signal bandwidth. Said method comprises: receiving a first signal; determining the bandwidth of the first signal; determining a bandwidth expansion mode corresponding to the bandwidth of the first signal from multiple different bandwidth expansion modes; generating a second signal according to the first signal and the expansion mode corresponding to the bandwidth of the first signal, with the bandwidth of the second signal being bigger than the bandwidth of the first signal. Said method enables a better matching of the bandwidth expansion mode and the real bandwidth, and a less noise which is brought by the bandwidth expansion, through determining the bandwidth of a signal and the bandwidth expansion mode corresponding to the bandwidth.
