A digital image processing apparatus having a photo frame function and a method of controlling the same are provided to enable a user to make a photo frame proper to his/her inclination and edit an image. When background images are selected by an inputted command from a user, the selected background images are displayed(301,302). A frame selecting menu is displayed and it is judged whether or not a frame is selected(304). If so, the frame is synthesized with the selected background image and the synthesized image is displayed(305). When a user intends to use the previously stored image, the stored images are displayed(308). The selected image is reproduced by an image selecting input command from the user(309). A preview image of a subject to be captured by a user is displayed in the frame of the photo frame(310). A new image is captured by the user and is stored at a memory card interface or a DRAM(311). The reproduced and stored image or the captured image is synthesized with the photo frame through an image synthesis algorithm(312). |
