摘要 The present invention relates to an energy storage system and a method of controlling the same which control the charging and discharging of a battery pack by allowing a user to directly control charging or discharging of the battery pack when a mode transition button is on, while allowing a microcomputer provided in an energy storage system to control charging or discharging of the battery pack by determining if there is blackout and determining a status of the battery pack when the mode transition button is off. The system comprises a mode transition button (102) which selects a manual transition or an automatic transition; a switch (104) electrically connected to a battery pack (200); and a microcomputer (106) electrically connected to the mode transition button (102) and the switch (104) to determine if there is blackout and determine the status of the battery pack (200) according to a preset program, and to turn off the switch (104) electrically connected to the battery pack (200) according to the preset program when the mode transition button (102) is manipulated.
