PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve joint strength and to achieve improvement in appearance quality.SOLUTION: Jointed members comprise extended parts 18 at extended positions from joint terminal end parts on at least one side of butting end parts. The friction stir jointing method for jointed members 14, 15 having complicated shape parts on sections of butting end parts 16 comprises: a jointing first process in which the butting end parts are jointed together along sides 19A with a jointing tool 10 and the butting joint on the side is terminated at a position just front of the excessive parts 18; a filling process in which, subsequent to the jointing first process, a jig 30 comprising a plane surface part 31 and a recessed part 32 is arranged in a manner that the plane surface part comes into contact with upper surfaces 13A of the members on which probe holes 28 remain in the jointing first process and gap spaces 33 are formed to face the recessed parts to oppose the probe holes and then the jointing tool is inserted from the side of the excessive parts 18 so that the probe holes and the gap spaces are filled by plastic flow of a material in the excessive parts; and a jointing second process in which, subsequent to the filling process, the butting end parts are butted and jointed each other with the jointing tool along sides 19B of the butting end parts. |
