The present invention relates to an apparatus to detect a nearby vehicle by utilizing an image information obtained through a camera unit provided in the vehicle. The apparatus to detect a nearby vehicle transmits information on the vehicle to a server if the incoming number list information is matched with the vehicle number plate information extracted from the image information.
