PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cartridge system which, even though a user attempts unauthorized means with respect to a cartridge, renders such an attempt futile.SOLUTION: The cartridge system comprises: a cartridge 1; an IC chip 10 that is incorporated in the cartridge 1 to be used and stores identification information and quantity information about consumables; and a device 2 that includes a storage portion 20 for storing the identification information and the quantity information, houses the cartridge 1 and consumes the consumables. The IC chip 10 includes a backup of quantity information that is stored in the chip itself, and also includes: determination means that, when power is supplied, compares the quantity information stored in the chip with the backup quantity information to determine the quantity information stored in the chip is tampered; and control means that, when the quantity information is determined by the determination means to be tampered, controls the quantity information stored in the chip to be replaced by the backup quantity information. |
