PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of components and to prevent an unnecessary flow of a cooling agent during a heating operation, in an air conditioner for a vehicle which has a branch circuit for a heating operation capable of flowing a cooling medium by excluding an evaporator and an expansion valve.SOLUTION: An air conditioner for a vehicle capable of performing a cooling operation and a heating operation by using a low heat pump includes: an electric compressor for compressing a low-pressure cooling medium to make the pressure high; an expansion valve for expanding the high-temperature and high-pressure cooling medium discharged by the electric compressor; an evaporator for allowing the cooling medium expanded by the expansion valve to pass while evaporating it; a cooling medium circuit for flowing the cooling medium cyclically through the electric compressor, the expansion valve and the evaporator; and a branch circuit capable of flowing the cooling medium cyclically to the electric compressor without passing through the expansion valve and the evaporator. The expansion valve has a temperature sensor, and it is configured in such a manner that it closes when an outside air temperature is lower than a specific temperature based on the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor, and the specific temperature is included between -3°C and -7°C. |
