The present invention is a brush-type contact point material having one or more curved metal prongs, the leading end parts whereof make contact with an object of contact. The leading end parts of the prongs have a circular arc-shaped cross-section in the thickness direction. An obverse-side radius of curvature (R1) from the contact point with the object of contact and a reverse-side radius of curvature (R2) from the contact point are formed such that R1≥R2. Furthermore, both end parts of the prongs in the width direction are chamfered. It is desirable for R1>R2, and for R1/R2 to be 3.0 or less. It is possible for the brush-type contact point material according to the present invention to slide more smoothly, and to be fabricated more easily, than prior art.
