<p>The method involves measuring a characteristics parameter e.g. longitudinal shear constraint, when a tire rolls on a wet surface of a pavement, using a measurement sensor (5). A signal corresponding to the parameter measurement is produced. A portion relative to passage of the sensor in a visible contact area of a tread (2) of a tire (1) on the surface is extracted from the signal. A momentary value related to length of an indirect contact zone of the area of the tire tread on the surface is deducted from information. Water height is estimated from calculation considering the deduced value. An independent claim is also included for a water height estimating device comprising a signal transmitting unit.</p> |
