Activated carbon, preferably activated carbon with a reactive and/or catalytic equipment, is claimed, where the activated carbon: is in the form of discrete activated carbon particles, preferably in the form of ball and/or grain; and is equipped and/or fitted with at least one metal component, which contains at least one metal-containing, preferably metal compound-containing ionic liquid.
