The method involves determining the environmental parameter in an outer environment of the fuel cell stack (2) and internal parameter of the fuel cells (B1-Bn) of the fuel cell stack. The function of environmental parameter, the function of the internal parameter and/or function of deviation of environmental parameter and interior parameters of the respective fuel cells is determined. Each fuel cell is short-circuited for a short time and is supplied with short electrical pulses to obtain the predetermined target parameter in the fuel cell. An independent claim is included for a method of operating fuel cell stack.
