PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable power optical system having a high variable power ratio, being compact, and achieving high optical performance, an optical device and a method for manufacturing the variable power optical system.SOLUTION: The variable power optical system includes, in order from the object side: a first lens group G1 having a positive refractive power; a second lens group G2 having a negative refractive power; a third lens group G3 having a positive refractive power; a fourth lens group G4; a fifth lens group G5; and a sixth lens group G6. When varying power from the wide angle end to the telephoto end, the distance between the first lens group G1 and the second lens group G2, the distance between the second lens group G2 and the third lens group G3, the distance between the third lens group G3 and the fourth lens group G4, the distance between the fourth lens group G4 and the fifth lens group G5, and the distance between the fifth lens group G5 and the sixth lens group G6 are changed. The variable power optical system satisfies predetermined conditional expressions. |
