<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber base material having high dimensional accuracy of a core and a clad and excellent straightness and circularity.SOLUTION: An optical fiber base material 1 for multi-core optical fibers is produced by: arranging a plurality of rods containing a SiO-based glass for cores at determined intervals in a container; injecting a glass raw material solution containing silica powder, distilled water, a dispersant and a hardenable resin and a hardening agent into the container to solidify the glass raw material solution through a self hardening reaction; detaching the container from the solidified body; drying the solidified body; and heating the solidified body in chlorine gas. The outer peripheral surface of the rod 2 containing the SiO-based glass for cores and a SiOclad layer 4 are adhered.</p> |
