The rim (2) has a body (3) made of a composite material and including shape of annular hollow box defining a volume (V) in a radial section of the body. A bridge (32) connects annular lateral sides (31a, 31b) of the box, and is located relative to a rotation axis of a wheel. A transverse wall (33) connects the sides contrary to the bridge. A core (4) is placed in the volume. A pair of metal inserts (5) is placed in notches of the core and in contact with the bridge. Each insert comprises a tapped fixing hole for a beam (10a1) of the wheel prolonged through the bridge. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a rim for a cycle wheel.
