PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high energy density IPM type electric rotary machine at a low cost, by achieving high efficiency rotary driving while reducing the mount of permanent magnet used.SOLUTION: An IPM type electric rotary machine includes a rotor 12 in which a permanent magnet 16 is embedded, and a stator for housing the rotor in a stator teeth 15 constituting a coil slot 18. When the permanent magnets exist up to a d-axis side matching the central axis of each magnetic pole, the permanent magnets in a range generating the magnet flux in a direction for cancelling the armature flux on the d-axis side are replaced by the space (flux barrier) 17c of a cavity having a small permeability. On the d-axis of the outer peripheral surface 12a of the rotor, a center groove 21 having a dimensional shape satisfying the following relations is formed. 0.98≤length R4 from the shaft center of groove bottom 21a/outer diameter R1 of the rotor<1.0. |
