PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antistatic agent capable of giving efficient permanent antistatic property to a molded article even with small amount addition without impairing exterior appearance and mechanical strength of the molded article, and to provide an antistatic resin composition containing the same.SOLUTION: There is provided an antistatic agent obtained by: copolymerizing ethylene with a vinyl compound (a) having 3 to 20 carbon atoms to obtain a copolymer (A); then adding an unsaturated acid anhydride (B) to the obtained copolymer (A) to obtain a polymer (C); and then ester bonding a monovalent hydroxyl group-containing compound (D) with a 1,3-dioxo-2-oxapropylene group of the obtained polymer (C). Here, the site where (B) is added is a carbon in (A), the carbon binding to at least two carbons and one hydrogen, a molar ratio of ethylene in (A) to (a) {a number of moles of the ethylene/a number of moles of (a)} is 95/5 to 70/30, and (D) is the hydroxyl group-containing compound containing a polyethylene oxide chain having a polymerization degree of 10 to 100. |
