PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely and stably perform skew correction of a paper sheet by a pair of resist rollers by performing ON/OFF control of nips of two pairs of first and second conveying rollers according to paper sheet length information.SOLUTION: A paper sheet conveying device 30 includes: paper sheet length information acquisition means acquiring the length of a paper sheet P; two pairs of first and second conveying rollers 34 and 35 conveying the paper sheet P; a pair of resist rollers 38 correcting skew of the paper sheet P; nip ON/OFF mechanism sections 40A and 40B turning ON/OFF nips of the pairs of first and second conveying rollers 34 and 35; and control means 70 controlling the nips of either one of the pairs of first and second conveying rollers 34 and 35 to be released via the nip ON/OFF mechanism sections 40A and 40B when it is determined that paper sheet length information from the paper sheet length information acquisition means is longer than an arrangement distance K of three pairs of rollers set between the pair of first conveying rollers 34 and the pair of resist rollers 38. |
