METHODS AND MEANS FOR PROTECTING SKIN AGAINST PATHOGENIC MICROORGANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means and methods enabling protecting skin, particularly human skin, against pathogenic microorganisms.SOLUTION: In a first embodiment, microorganisms that are able to stimulate the growth of microorganisms of the skin normal bacterial flora but do not stimulate the growth of microorganisms of the transient pathogenic bacterial flora are described. In a second embodiment, microorganisms that are able to inhibit the growth of microorganisms of the skin transient pathogenic bacterial flora but do not inhibit the growth of microorganisms of the skin normal bacterial flora are described. Compositions comprising the microorganisms as well as use of the microorganisms in cosmetic, prophylactic, or therapeutic applications are also described.
