The invention relates to a method for testing the leaktightness of a vehicle (10), in which method the vehicle (10) is sprayed with water by means of a water-spraying device (12), and then a vehicle interior (18) of the vehicle (10) is examined by means of a detector unit (16) for an ingress of water (26), wherein, after the vehicle (10) is sprayed with water, a thermographic picture (24) at least of a subregion of the vehicle interior (18) is generated by means of a thermography unit (20) of the detector unit (16). In this case, the water (26) is advantageously set to a temperature which differs from that of the vehicle (10) before the vehicle (10) is sprayed with water. The invention also relates to an apparatus for testing the leaktightness of a vehicle (10).
