The invention relates to an electrically lockable vehicle steering system comprising an electric motor (6) for generating a steering torque, a steering control unit (11), and a locking device (20) which can be electrically actuated for locking the steering system. The steering control unit (11) is disposed in a housing (13), which is secured to the electric motor (6). The electrically actuatable locking device (20) comprises an actuator (21), which is disposed in the housing (13) of the steering control unit (11). This creates a structural arrangement of an electrically lockable vehicle steering system which offers advantages in many respects. Methods are also provided for activating and deactivating the steering locking system. |
