The method involves arranging a closure clutch between partial crankshafts from a friction clutch. An angle-selective connection of the partial crankshafts is adjusted at a given engaging position. A first partial motor is operatively coupled with a powertrain. A second partial motor is decoupled from the first partial motor in form-fit manner by applying clutch moment that is produced by the closure clutch and transferable over the friction clutch. The second partial motor is operated with a larger motor moment that is greater than clutch moment. An independent claim is also included for a combustion engine.
