PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce troublesome produced at remote monitoring and reduce the occurrence of wasteful traffic.SOLUTION: A remote monitoring system includes a remote control device and a relay device controlled by the remote control device. The remote control device includes: a monitoring actual result storage unit for storing the actual result of monitoring representing the actual result of equipment information acquired in the past from a device to be monitored; and based on the actual result of monitoring stored in the monitoring actual result storage unit, a selection unit for selecting an acquisition item to acquire the equipment information related to the device to be monitored. The relay device includes: information acquisition unit for acquiring equipment information from equipment subordinate to the self-device, on the basis of the acquisition item selected by the selection unit of the remote control device; and a communication unit for transmitting the equipment information acquired by the information acquisition unit to the remote control unit.
