The method involves reading a current value of first rotation speed of a rotary wing to calculate a regulation term that is a function of the rotation speed. Value of the regulation term is compared with a predetermined setpoint threshold. Second rotation speed of a free turbine (3) of a rotary wing aircraft is regulated at a setpoint value that is equal to the regulation term or to the setpoint threshold based on predetermined conditions, where the free turbine is connected to a main gearbox (5) via a free wheel (4). An independent claim is also included for a device for regulating a drive source in a rotary wing aircraft. |
