An image is synthesized by using a three-dimensional depth map acquired with consideration of a position of a viewer. The 3D image display device of the present invention comprises: a depth map extractor which extracts a 3D depth map for image synthesis; an object position determination unit which determines a position of an object considering the 3D depth map; an object synthesis unit which synthesizes the object to be shown to a viewer based on the determined position of the object; and a display unit which displays the synthesized object to the viewer. The image display device may additionally contain a viewer position determination unit which determines a position of the viewer and, at that time, the object position determination unit can determine the position of the object with more consideration of the viewer position.
