A mobile terminal having a PTT(Push To Talk) function and an input setting method thereof are provided to simplify user input in case of transmitting text data, such as SMS(Short Message Service), messenger service in a PTT method by appointing a certain key of a keypad as a PTT function key to be used in executing PTT communication mode. A mobile terminal having a PTT function comprises a PTT module(14), a user input part, a keypad switchover key(22), and a control part(10). The PTT module transmits and receives RF signals in a PTT service method. The user input part, provided for user input, comprises a keypad(7) which consists of character keys, number keys, menu keys, and direction keys. The memory stores key setup data to set a certain key of the keypad as a PTT function key for Tx/Rx mode transfer in PTT communication. The keypad switchover key is provided to select the activation of the PTT function key. In case that the activation of the PTT function key is selected through the keypad switchover key, the control part controls the Tx/Rx function of the PTT module according to the input of the PTT function key, based on the key setup data stored in the memory. |
