PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the variation in the number of photographing frames per unit time during continuous photographing time. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a photographing section to continuously photograph an object and continuously output image data of a plurality of frames; a buffer section to temporarily accumulate the image data output from the photographing section; a reception section to receive information concerning the continuous photographing time of the photographing section designated by a user; a computation section that computes a capacity per unit time for the image data that can be accumulated in the buffer section during the continuous photographing time received by the reception section and divides the capacity per unit time by a capacity per frame for the image data that is output to the buffer section during the continuous photographing time by the photographing section so as to compute the number of photographing frames per unit time by the photographing section during the continuous photographing time; and a setting section to set the number of photographing frames per unit time by the photographing section during the continuous photographing time to the number of photographing frames per unit time that is computed by the computation section.
