A collector for use following colostomy, ileostomy and the like comprises an adhesive flange 16 surrounding an opening 18 and sealed to the flange 22 on a connecting member 20 e.g. of resilient plastics material. The connecting member 20 is. in the form of a frusto-conical supporting member 24 tapering inwardly in the direction away from the adhesive flange to an end portion having a locking flange 26 with a rounded forward edge 28 and a plane rearward edge 30. The collecting bag 10 is attached by a flange 34 to a retaining ring 14 which is of a shape conforming with the outer surface of the supporting member 24 on which it fits tightly when forced over the locking flange, the length of the flange 36 being only slightly less than that of flange 24 so that, when in position, the end face 42 of the flange 36 locates on the rearward edge 30 of locking flange 26. |
