[Also in Division H1] An electric switch (11), (Fig. 1, not shown), provides a resilient end abutment for the sheath 2 of a Bowden cable 1 between a vehicle accelerator pedal (8) and an engine throttle valve (5) to prevent overloading of the cable, and is closed at maximum accelerator pedal depression for downshift of the electrically controlled automatic transmission of the vehicle. One end of the sheath 2 engages in a member 12 of insulating material axially slidable in a tubular metal guide 14 secured to a fixed plate 15 connected to one terminal of the electrical circuit to be controlled. An insulating collar 21 on the guide 14 supports a metal ring 19 having a tab 20 for connection to the other terminal of said circuit. A pre-stressed compression spring 16 between the ring 19 and a metal ring 18 under the head of the member 12 resists movement of the member 12. When the pedal (8) is fully depressed, the member 12 is moved rightwards (Fig. 2) far enough for the ring 18 to engage a spring 22, which reacts against the end 14a of the guide 14, to complete the circuit. |
