PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber and a shock absorbing bumper for a vehicle which are excellent in shock absorption.SOLUTION: In an initial stage where a shock load P is input to a substrate part 11 of a shock absorber 10 through a bumper face 7, a first rib 21 having a long axis length in a plurality of first to fifth ribs 21, 25, 31, 35, 41 facing the front surface 3 of a bumper beam 2 is compressively deformed to ensure an initial drag, and the second to fifth ribs 25, 31, 35, 41 are compressively deformed in order from long to short axis length, whereby drags are approximately constantly maintained to obtain excellent shock absorption. |
