<p>User equipment (UE) 10 sends S30, S50 a communication mode preference indication, such as a low power consumption mode preference, to a communication network control element, such as a base station or evolved node B (eNB) 20, under consideration of a default prohibit timer defining a time period during which transmission of a communication mode preference indication is prohibited for a communication element. When a response S60 to the communication mode preference indication is received by the UE 10, it determines whether a change of the behaviour for transmitting the power preference information, i.e. a change of a prohibit timer value, is to be executed. When a response S60 is caused to be sent, a radio resource control (RRC) configuration signalling with a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration parameter may be used. The DRX configuration parameter may indicate a DRX cycle different from a previous DRX cycle or predetermined value, or an on-duration of a DRX cycle.</p> |
