<p>Provided are: a novel europium diketone chelate compound which has high fluorescence intensity, almost no problem of concentration quenching, and excellent affinity with a surface of an inorganic matter or a surface of a metal; and a fluorescent penetrant method for an inorganic material or metallic material using the same. The europium diketone chelate compound represented by formula (2) is used for the fluorescent penetrant method for an inorganic material or metallic material.
