Provided is a substance having a highly effective filaggrin production promoting activity. Also provided is a therapeutic drug useful for the treatment of skin diseases associated with the reduction in the production of filaggrin, particularly atopic dermatitis. The search for filaggrin production promoters has been made extensively. As a result, it is found that (A) an N-quinolylbenzamide derivative (compound 1), (B) ivermectin (compound 2) or (C) a phenylalanine amide derivative (compound 3) can promote the production of filaggrin in the skin and can improve the water-retaining ability or the barrier function of a horny cell layer. The present invention relates to a filaggrin production promoter characterized by containing a specific N-quinolylbenzamide derivative or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient.
