PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a depth information generation device which can generate depth information for obtaining sufficient stereoscopic effect with respect to an image having a subject of interest in the center part of a screen.SOLUTION: A synthesis section 117 generates parallax data by synthesizing basic depth models stored in frame memories 114-116. A lower part high frequency component evaluation section 113 generates a lower part high frequency component evaluation value of a lower part of a screen. A depth and protrusion correction data generation section 138 generates color data in which a positive value is given for warm colors and a negative value is given for cool colors according to an R signal and a B signal, and multiplies the positive value in the color data by a first gain coefficient and multiplies the negative value by a second gain coefficient to generate correction data for correcting degrees of depth and protrusion of pixels. An adder 119 adds the parallax data from the synthesis section 117 and the correction data to generate depth estimation data. |
