PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator shock absorber, capable of lengthening a stroke of a plunger and also surely displacing the plunger from the contraction position to the standby position.SOLUTION: An elevator shock absorber includes: a cylinder 1 provided at the bottom 100 of a hoistway; and a plunger 2 provided on the cylinder 1 to displace between a standby position and the contraction position below the standby position with respect to the cylinder 1. In the elevator shock absorber, the plunger 2 is displaced from the standby position to the contraction position by the collision of a car 3 with the plunger 2. The shock absorber further includes: a connector 4 connecting the car 3 and the plunger 2 to each other; and a power supply device 5 for controlling the connector 4. The power supply device 5 causes the connector 4 to connect the car 3 to the plunger 2 when the position of the plunger 2 is in the contraction position, and causes the connector 4 to release the connection between the car 3 and the plunger 2 when the position of the plunger 2 is in the standby position. |
