<p>A method of operating a relocatable micro-grid 1 comprising a generator 2, switch 4, control module 6 and distribution network 8. The control module further comprises an energy store in the form of a battery and is switchable between operating as a power store or as a power source. All of the entities within the micro grid 1 are modular and able to be disconnected from the micro grid, transported to a different location and subsequently reconnected to the micro grid. Modules may also be added or removed as needed. The distribution network receives power from either the generator 2, energy store 6 or both and provides it to a plurality of distribution units 10, to which are connected a plurality of loads 12 and may be powered by secondary renewable energy generators 14. A demand management module 16 receives operating signals from the generator, energy store 6 and distribution units 10 and selects, with or without the intervention of an operator, an appropriate template that specifies how entities within the microgrid 1 are to operate. The demand management module 16 may also assign priority values to load modules and control the power supply to those loads depending on their priority values.</p> |
