The tool (8) has a fixing unit (19) for holding a pre-assembled component during a movement of the plug housing. A movable unit (17) moves the plug housing beyond the component fixed by the fixing unit. The movable unit is movable by a manual operation of hand levers (11, 12) for an assembly stroke. The movable unit is movable independent of the hand levers for an idle stroke. A support body (49) is provided for the plug housing.
